Councelling is coming closer day by day and i know everybody is anxiously waiting for July session Seat matrix. Amidst all this anxiety, it seems NBE has pulled of a magic trick. It has done something that has never been done before. It has announced a last round for January session after the final round for January session which was held a month back. You can read that story here. It’s like a double flip and no other board has ever pulled off such a stunt. But the good thing about stunts is that every spectator enjoys an adrenaline rush.
Now normally when there are still some seats vacant after a final round of NBE counselling, seats are usually transferred to the next july seesion, however it seems unlikely now.
But the big question is how is it going to impact the spectators’ i.e. you?? How is it going to impact students who want to take seat in July session? Well its a hard thing to predict but still let us try and see the overall impact.
Apparently many of you who gave January DNB and opted out in final round also gave july DNB. Some of you have even got decent ranks in July DNB. Now these candidates have two options instead of one, they can either take a seat through Jan Session counselling or July session. I personally feel that if a student takes seat through last round of Jan session he cannot attend the July session counselling. So at least 50 candidates (minimum) who are common to both counselling’s will take those seats that were to get transferred to July session and some of them had still taken those even if they had been transferred to July session.
Overall it doesn’t change anything for people in July session, those seats that were to get transferred might be taken early but the number of candidates coming for July session may also decrease and for the common people it’s a choice between the two.
Another plus point for July candidates is those people who don’t have their originals and are pursuing their MD/MS will be allowed only in Second round. If they want to get allowed they will have to forfeit their seat before first round which is again risky. So it’s a win-win situation for July candidates.
When you read between the lines, NBE just wants you to be sure of everything before you take your decision. It preparing you for the future battle with DNB. You need to be dedicated and that’s what it wants from you.
The solution to this complex problem is very simple. Take a seat if you get an institute and branch of your choice and if it has made into your priority list, don’t wait for the next round, you never know these NBE people they may announce a penultimate round for January session( just a joke, don’t take it seriously). All i want to say is opt out only if your desired hospitals and branch is not available. Also keep your personal factors in mind. A lot of you have been asking for preference orders for which i will say that it’s you who takes the final call. Stephens, Gangaram,NH, others may vary only slightly in terms of academics or overall exposure but you need to take your personal decisions too. An institute situated in your hometown may not be good academically but you may have the comfort of your home and that will help you study. In the past i have seen many people who stayed at their home and still passed even though their institute was not so good. So you need to keep your personal factors in mind and then decide. Various places will have their own benefit and it’s you who decides what you want. If you still have a problem in deciding on these minute personal factors, you can message me personally.
These are my own personal views and may change if there is a new notification or a seat matrix is displayed for one of the councellings. But the overall impact of these developments should be good .
