Dr Aniket is my junior from KMC Mangalore. He secured 250 rank in June DNB 2014 and contacted me for taking up Radiology or Medicine. To his surprise he was also called for the final round of DNB councelling for January session and was ninth person on the list. He grabbed this oppurtunity with both hands to get something that he already deserved for his dedication and persistence.

Diwan Chand Satya Pal Aggarwal Imaging Research Centre is the oldest and largest radiology centre in India. Established in 1924 by Dr. Diwan Chand Aggarwal in Lahore, now in Pakistan , the clinic has been the leader in using modern technology and most up-to-date equipment throughout its history. In the 30s, the clinic was the first to acquire the Coolidge tube, rotating anode tube, full rectification through valves, and then selenium rectifiers, which were the latest developments in Radiology in those days. After suffering a temporary setback due to India’s partition, in 1947, Dr Diwan Chand Aggarwal moved from Lahore to Delhi . He was joined by his son Dr. Satyapal Aggarwal and through their combined grit and determination; they were able to re-establish the glory of the clinic. As part of the expansion plans Diwanchand has branched out to new centres at Shanti Mukund Diwanchand Imaging Centre in East Delhi, PSRI-Diwanchand Imaging Centre in South Delhi.

Work timings are usually 8 to 5 but one week we also have 11-8 duties as centre is open till 8 pm. Currently there are no emergency duties as railway panel is gone due to some issues. But we can make friends elsewhere and do emergency duties elsewhere if we want.
Initially we have to prove our diligency in work, once done we get lots of quality exposure. We spend time on patients as taking history before scanning is compulsory for us, if we want we can even touch patients and follow up patients. We can take “free academic scan” for our sake if we feel something will be better visualized on MRI or CT. Many a times patient comes to us for a CT scan and we do an MRI on him for free or vice versa. Sometimes a patient coming for MRI, gets CT and USG free depending on requirement. Even a single patient is given time equivalent to 5 patients and that’s why DCA is the best imaging centre in Delhi. Our reports are accepted by AIIMS also.
When we had railway panel, patient load was around 30 MRI, 30 CT, 70 USG, 70 Xray per day plus procedures. Presently 15 mri, 10 ct, 30 xray, 30 usg, 2 mcu, 2 barium procedure, 4 dexa, 5 mammo on an average. It appears less but each patient get highest importance, and we give ample amount of time to each patient doing free academic scans if necessary, so quantity may be slightly compromised at present, but quality of work is amazing.
This quality of work is combined with superb academics.
Every week there are 2 classes of anatomy, Every Wednesday we have case presentations with 3 clinicians coming from outside and bringing their own cases for academics.
All of them are experts in this field. We also have a journal club on Thursday.
