What are the usual working hours??

Variable, depending on rotations schedules made depending on seasonal admission load and residents availability as Can happen  Alternate Day on Calls - 3-4 Emergency Duties a week. Each on call is 36 hrs.Lightest weeks would be 2 week On calls and Sunday Call by rotation

How many emergency duties per week and describe work if possible?

On Call lasts 36 hours ,Off Call regular days 9 hours duty calls can be Alternate Day to minimum 2 per week and Sunday Call rotation wise. No unit system so, pretty badly hectic. My first 6 months were pretty much with h 3/4 calls per week non stop. Multiple admissions happen during night shifts. We are the point of contact for all. Assess, admit, empirically manage and inform and follow up. Rounds hence are variable and work never stops. Ward, PICU, NICU, Casualty, Deliveries, OPD. All are plentiful.

7 bedded state of art PICU, 14 bedded NICU. Only tertiary level hospital in Thane. Centre for high risk deliveries. Headed by very very brilliant Consultant who is also our DNB guide. Private Hospital OPD with 100-150 pts daily from 9-7 pm headed by other very very brilliant Senior Consultant - DNB Co Guide with Non stop inflow. Plus Superspecialty OPD which is open for us to go and attend. All Superspecialty- Nephro, Neuro, Rheumat, Endo, Hemato, Cardio regular admissions. Rarest of rare, even internationally referred cases are seen.

Are you allowed to touch the patient??

Procedures - I've finished six months and done- LP, All Taps, Umbilical Vein Cathertisation, Intubation, Foreign Body removals, each and every IV of cardiac babies, ortho babies, onco babies too, FNAC, CLWs, I n D . Seniors by 3rd year do all and every NICU PICU procedures. Lots of free hand for a private hospital, but no room for blunders.  Seniors and consultants very particular so free hand with supervision which is best of both worlds.

How are the academics? Any case presentations done?

Our guides give us presentations to make regularly and Clinical meet once a month. Papers and Poster presentations  keep  happening. Rounds are very fulfilling. Consultants teach very ethically and latest guidelines are emphasized a lot and Thesis is taken very seriously. HOD sir keeps sending us to Wadia, Sion for workshops and conferences and observerships.

How is the pass rate?? Have your seniors passed?

So far, 100% from a total of 5 batches.

How satisfied are you with your choice?

Very satisfied
