Narayana hrudyalaya is a JCI and NABH accredited heart hospital, situated in  Bangalore. What are the usual working hours?

6-8 hours on non duty days. 36hours on duty day.

How many emergency duties per week and describe work if possible.

2-3 per week in 1st year.

If its a surgical branch then what all surgeries you have performed till now?

Emergency procedures like scalp suturing, EVD, lumbar puncture. Assisted trauma surgery like- craniotomy and evacuation of hematoma, ACF base repair. Tracheostomy, carpal tunnel release, muscle biopsy.

Are you allowed to touch the patient?

Yes. Residents are the 1st person to see, examine and present the case to seniors/ consultants. Can suggest plan of management.

How are the academics? Any case presentations done?

Academics are good. Daily case presentations, weekly seminars, monthly tumour board, mortality meets etc are scheduled.

How is the pass rate?  Have your seniors passed?

Nearly 100%, only recently 1 senior failed in theory once, but he also cleared both theory and practical after 6months.

How satisfied are you with your choice?

Super Satisfied!!

Any other departments at your institution good for DNB?

All are good. Best- Neurosurgery, Neurology, Cardiac, Head and neck, ophthalmology, Paediatric Hematooncology , vascular surgery. Please contact resident of other departments for more details.

Among all medical fields, neurosurgery requires a 'lot of dedication, hard work, physical ability to tolerate strenuous exertion and stress. Family life is less in neurosurgery. Think many times before taking it. But if you are really interested and dedicated in neurosurgery, this is one of the best institutes to do it.

Why did you choose this hospital?

Best hospital in my own state with average stipend, and a very good passing rate.
