Dr Sricharantheja completed his MBBS from PES Institute of Medical sciences and research. He is currently pursuing DNB Pediatrics at Dr Mehta’s Hospital,Chennai and says its better to do DNB here than do a DCH in Govt Medical colleges, He gives us an overview of the institute , providing us valuable information about the same.

| what was Your rank in DNB and your colleagues rank in DNB if any: | My rank was 2241, my colleagues were : 1530, 1340, 1440 ( total 4 seats , all in january session) |
| How many consultants are there in your department in the concerned specialty ? : | total15-17…. Of which 12 are regular consultants and rest of them are visiting consultants. Pediatric nephrology chief Dr. Vijay Kumar is an eminent doctor all over India. HOD Dr. Thangavelu and 4 more have previously worked in madras medical college as professors and heads of Dep. Apart from them there are 6-7 registrars(SRs) |
| What are the usual working hours??: | 8-9 hours, Duty days 32 hours continuously with no post duty off |
| How many emergency duties per week and decribe work if possible.: | 2 per week. Good hands on. During morning hours emergency chief will be there to guide still will get chances to do procedures and all. Night completely under our cover. For Sick cases we can inform to chief or PICU. PICU duties are shift duties. NICU no shifts , work will not be so hectic. |
| Are you allowed to touch the patient ?? please describe the procedures you have done .: | Almost all procedures we can do. … Free hands but PICU procedures less chances. I have done Venepuncture, catheterisation Lp Bm aspiration Uvc uac insertion Incubation Iv line |
| How are the academics? any case presentations done? Please put a timetable if present.: | We have nice academic schedule for each month . A Theory test is conducted once a month. Case presentations twice a week so academics are good and plenty. |
| How is the pass rate?? have your seniors passed.: | All seniors have passed till now except one. |
| how satisfied are you with your choice? : | Very satisfied |
| Any other departments at your institution good for DNB??: | No. Only Pediatric hospital |
| Stipend and accomodation details: | 25000 27000 29000 (more than state government stipend) Additional 500 for each transport No accommodation |
| Any other info you would like to give.?: | Better to do paeds here than DCH in Govt colleges |
| Why did you chose this hospital? Give atleast 3 reasons or decribe in detail: | On seniors guidance , Previous DNB candidates suggested this as they know about the professors in Pediatric wing of MMC. |
