What are the usual working hours??
On non duty days working hours will be 8 to 6 or 7 o clock maximum
How many emergency duties per week ?
There is a hierarchical level of call days amongst resident. In first year u have to do 7-10 night shifts a month which gradually reduces.
If it’s a surgical branch then what all surgeries you have performed till now?
Till now I have not assisted any case. In first year u have to be in wards & ICU and do other routine work. Your surgical exposure increases as u go in 2nd 3rd year of residency. But what I see my seniors are getting quite good hands on with proper guidance.
Are you allowed to touch the patient??
Yes we are allowed to touch the patients, make decisions regarding treatment and do bed side procedures. In my freshmen year I got training in tracheostomies, intubations, external ventricular drain placements, ICP probe placements & lumbar puncture.
How are the academics? any case presentations done?
Department is getting streamlined now a days as batches are coming up. We have Thursday seminars & Saturday case presentations. Gradually things are getting regular.
How is the pass rate?? Have your seniors passed?
Our final year batch is exam going now so can’t comment on this. But pass rate of other branches in Yashoda is good.
How satisfied are you with your choice?
Very satisfied
Any other departments at your institution good for DNB??
One can opt for ENT & Anaesthesia here. Rest departments are also good depends on individual perspective.
Stipend and accommodation details:
25k,27k,29k,32k,34k,36k in respective years.
Accommodation in nearby apartments at 10k per annum, bit shabby but livable.

Our consultants are very student friendly and they will always encourage you to learn, read and do things on your own. All our consultants are from premium institutes like Nimhans & srichitra with teaching experience in the same so you have an awesome learning experience. Overall you have to be patient and slowly you will get the desired cutting chances.
Also technologically Yashoda is very sound. You can see most of the recent trends in neurosurgery being followed here.
