We already know so much about Holy Family Hospital, Delhi as it has been reveiwed by Dr Neha Kwatra here . Dr Anjani Dixit who recently joined there after securing a rank of 2263 in Janurary session, tells us that hospital is indeed Excellent for OBG and is full of praises for Dr Neha Kwatra. Dr Anjani has answered a few questions about the hospital to help others make a decision.

What was Your rank in DNB and your colleagues rank in DNB if any

2263

How many consultants are there in your department in the concerned specialty ?

8 consultants out of which 3 are visiting consultants.

What are the usual working hours??

8am to 5pm. But time always seems in short supply.

How many emergency duties per week and decribe work if possible?

We have morning and evening rounds, morning and afternoon OPD and depending on schedule we have two O.T.days a week. We have daily classes, journal clubs, case presentations and case discussions.

Every 4th day is on call where we have to attend gynae and obs casuality patients.

If its a surgical branch then what all surgeries you have performed till now?

I have joined a month back only. I have assisted in almost all types of surgeries...its still early to get hands on but we start getting it in 2nd and 3rd year. For time being we are taught to close abdomen and consultant take the thorough viva during the procedure to check if you know the basics. We get to do the minor procedures.

Are you allowed to touch the patient ?? please describe the procedures you have done

Yes. Till date apart from general examination and making diagnosis, Pap smears, learned how to do D&C, S&E, taking Biopsy...etc

Seniors literally make you do it. Learning and Working is amazing here.

How are the academics? any case presentations done?

Every day of the week is assigned a class with a particular consultant. We have journal clubs, Case presentations, case discussions as per predecided schedule which is given in the starting of the month. There is also a monthly test on selected topics followed by discussion. In short you are made to study.

How is the pass rate?? have your seniors passed.

Pass rate was 75-100% till last to last year. Only last year it dipped to 50%. Out of four seniors , two have passed last year.

How satisfied are you with your choice?

Very satisfied

Any other departments at your institution good for DNB??

Paediatrics and Medicine are considered very good here. Both have two seats each. There is also one seat for Surgery which is also considered good.

Stipend and accommodation details

Accomodation is available in the campus. Hostel rooms are also spacious and good. There is a mess and a 24 hour open canteen. Stipend is 50,000.

Any other info you would like to give?

Earlier i was also confused like everyone else what to take...but Holy Family is considered a renowned hospital especially in obs and gyane and paediatrics. There is huge load in Medicine and Surgery too. Earlier there were two seats for Primary and two for secondary DNB in obs & gynae but this year seats have increased to four in each them.

This hospital is a good option to learn and most importantly to pass DNB as here everyone is very much work oriented and academics are excellent.

Why did you chose this hospital?

I choose this hospital because-

1. Holy family is said to be a old and reputed hospital with good patient load. Obs & Gynae is considered very good for a DNB candidate

2.I wanted a hospital with good academics as DNB need serious studies.

3.I wanted a hospital near my home town, preferably Delhi and this seems a good option.

Note : 1 seat in Medicine is Vacant at Holy Family hospital, Delhi

If there are any discrepancies in the two blogs, please take in consideration that there is a time gap between the two, things might have changed and the most recent blog(i.e this one) should be considered more accurate.

This hospital is Now Freeassociation.in Certified for being good in OBG as it has received two good reviews from two residents of different years. You can take this hospital for OBG if it satisfies you.
